My side view mirrors on LT are loose now. One has been knocked off or jarred in such a way the the tabs inside the mirror which hold it on the bike are missing or damaged.
looking for a part or something to use..as a fix
This is the round oval part with 8 spring bendable metal pieces when
when pressed hold the mirror on the three bolts from the bike itself.
Is there a part or does anyone have a suggestion ? I am unable to find a part from my dealer...

Sloan - the only repair is to replace the mirror - AFAIK. Those little fingers or tangs can break off - and once they're gone, they're gone. I could be wrong, but I don't know of any repair for the LT mirrors. _________________ Jim

I think Jim's right - you're screwed.
Bob's BMW sells mirrors in primer. Would probably run $50(?) locally to get it painted to match your bike. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Sloan - those mirrors ain't cheap!
Probably the best you can do is about #150.00 for a new painted one. Try some of the used parts yards. Last one I had painted with factory paint cost me $100.00 for the paint job!
I'd call around before I'd buy from Bob's - if they were only a few bucks more somewhere else - I'd get 'em somewhere else... _________________ Jim

Bob's K bike parts catalog has them at $98 in primer. (That'sa 2004 price so maybe they're like $120(?) now. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

You can always watch flea-bay, I picked up an extra one for my LT, even in matching color (and better shape) for like $50.
There's also the forum want ads with guys parting out bikes.
Good Luck
Scott. |

Hi, Sloan,
The clips are only available from BMW in a new, primered, mirror cowl. The cost is well over $100 and then you need to get them painted. I've bought them on e-bay for well under $50, but with scratches, etc., which don't matter if you're going to paint them anyway. If you do bid on e-bay, MAKE SURE ou ask specifically about the condition of the clips. The same mirror holders were used on the K75RT, K100RT and LT and K1100LT.

| If it was me, I would go used and paint em satin black. You might find a pair with no glass for REAL cheap. Sand em, spray em, then switch the glass in from your worn out housings. |
