This was $100.00 shipped. I jumped on it fast with buy-it-now. Judging from the pics is it a lucky day for me, or did I get ripped off?

Send it to the guys at http://www.aftershocks-suspension.com/pages/home.htm

It'll cost oyu a few hundred bucks to get it rebuilt. (Mine cost about $225 but yours will probalby be more as they'll probably wnat to replace the spring too.)

But I'd say in the end you'll end up with a "like new" OHlins for less than $500 - which ain't bad if you ask me.

Hard to say, but it looks a little beat up, to say the least.

I suppose if the action is nice and smooth then it's worth every penny.

Rydor,

I think you probably did ok, provided the shock isnt bent or some kind of catastrophic failure. These people can help with a rebuild as well.
http://www.hardracing.com/Shocks%20&%20Steering%20Damp/OhlinsPricingMID.htm

I have a manual for mine that I can photo copy for you. One bad thing about a good rear shock is that it will show all of the flaws in the front end. Good fork springs and 10weight oil are a must IMHO. If you can find the WP/White Power fork springs to put in, they would be the best. A second choice would be .95k rated RaceTechs.

Another thing is do not throw away your old shock, you can always use it in a pinch or for mock up if your Ohlins will need another rebuild.
And Lastly, look up the torque specs for the top bolt and lower nut and use a little locktite on them. A while back, a few people have had the lower stud or top bolt sheer off while riding Shocked I haven't heard of a case in a while now; but I have always speculated that people had overtightened the shock mounting bolts as a cause, I could be wrong, but why take a chance.

That spring looks pretty beaten up - I'd get a new one for your riding weight installed. I'd do it for sure if I''m spending YOUR money. Very Happy )

Is the Öhlins shock a siginificat better than the original KLT one? My shock has the top screw, the one that sets the damper, non functionant.
Is this a reason tho change the shock? Or there is a solution to save this schock?
Thanks.
Guilherme.

yes, Guilherme - the Ohlins is a lot better. I think almost any aftermarket shock is better than the original - which is only good for about 64,000 klicks. Maybe the question should be - do you want to save your shock?

In truth, the actual riding caracteristics of my KLT, even with the non-functionant damper screw, suits me well.
Here in Brazil, we have a heavy import tax, and the Öhlins shock would cost me almost 2000 dollars.
I'm planning a trip to California to october, and maybe I'll get one Öhlins with me, and in this way I'll not have to pay any taxes.
Guilherme.

Well worth the money. I had an Ohlins on my R100GS and it was really plush, made some much difference to the ride.

I like the yellow/gold combination of the Öhlins shocks!
And Interlagos blue must be a tribute for the race track here in São Paulo.
In 1996 I was part of the medical staff of the GP Brazil Formula 1, and see very closely Mr. Alain Prost, Michael Shumacher, Fisichella etc.
See more about Interlagos:

And the last victory of Airton Senna in 1993 in:

Really exciting!
Guilherme.
