I want to mount new roundels on my tank. First, what's the best place to find new, original pieces? I've been ordering OE parts from A&S and Bob's. Is there a lower price source available?

Second, what's the best way to remove roundels without damaging paint? Should I heat them with a hair dryer prior to removal, use Goo Gone, etc.?

I saw Bill Shaw remove roundels by taking dental floss and using by drawing it toward you between the roundel and tank in a sawing motion (back and forth...), then using WD-40 to remove the residue. Seemed to work well though the WD-40 part took a while.

Ted, thanks for the tip. I found new roundels at Chicago BMW for $10.28 each. Not bad.

Remove them by heating with a blow dryer or a heat gun. Pull gentle at the edge until it lifts off and then peel it back. I've done it with ease. They nearly fall off. Use a solvent to remove the remaining glue.

Careful if you use MEK as it will EAT paint. DAMHIK.
A little dab will do ya.

NO - don't use solvent! Use WD 40 - won't damage your paint.

Is Goo Gone safe on painted surfaces?

I've used both Goo Gone and WD-40 - both seem to work about the same.
