This gives me hope. If not I'll try the ones off my old plugs. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

They probably mean "threaded electrical connectors".
For your sake, I hope not. Please let us know what they send you. _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |

What, the clocks? BMW still sells them - for the low, low price of only $225. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I'm guessing they're talking about the original Fuel + system that replaced the clock. _________________ Ride safe.

Does it bother anybody that the DR7EIX iridum plug has a 16mm hex-nut not the 18mm that the spark-plug tool spans??
Do you guys use some other plug tool?? _________________ 97 K1100LT le (Kaw lady) with 119,000 miles. |

I use the 18mm spark plug wrench (spanner). I use it on the Autolite 4163 plugs I've used in K1100LT's and K75's for more than the past 10 years. I refuse to pay BMW's price for Bosch X5DC, XR5DC or DR7EIX plugs. The 4163 plugs work well and cost me (now) maybe $1.50 each AND, if necessary, I can remove and replace them with the tool in the tool kit. _________________ Ride Safe,

Thread resurrection time
Does anyone have any experience with the Autolite Iridium plug?
I have been reading lots of threads on plugs. No stores have the NGK in stock but O"Reilly Auto cross referenced the NGK to Auto lite and they have them in stock for 4.99, thought I would try them but saw nothing on any threads about them, And they come with the caps!!! _________________ Brian

Hi 'molerat'...
I have absolutely no experience with AutoLite plugs, I use only the NGK Iridium,,, However, your post was preceded by a post from our dear late departed friend Phil Marvin, a true human being, a BMW expert in all areas, and NEVER hesitant about sharing his friendship or his great knowledge/experience with all of us. It just served to remind me, and many many others I'm sure, of how quickly these last 24 weeks have passed, and just what a friend and comrade we have lost. We (I) miss him.....
Sorry I cant help you with your "plug decision"... try 'em and see !

Thanks Ernie I am going to try them. Being new to the forum I did not know of his passing. He sounds like an upstanding guy and I am sad I never had the opportunity to meet him.
My Prayers go out to his family

I just bought some for the R850R that I am resurecting. I am synching the TBs tonight. I'll see how they do. Normally I am an NGK irridium guy but I'll see if these cheaper plugs do the job. _________________ Rich

Hi Brian....
Just to let you know, when you signed in here you became a member not of just a forum about K-Bikes, you became a member of a family. True we may be far apart, in different states, countries or continents, BUT we are family none the less and we share a bond in our love for "2 wheels" and a good ride ! IF you can, PLEASE try be with the family during one or more of our get togethers, either here in the east or in the west. We meet in May at the Hungry Mother State Park in Virginia and/or the Hungry Dungee in Oregon (?) or any other we may think of, maybe Australia or New Zealand or Great Britain... make alliances with others closer to you, ride together. It REALLY would be great, so come, OK ?
Best regards,,,ride safe,,.........// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

Well I put in the Autolite Iridiums and I must say they work pretty darn good. Good power and acceleration and cheaper than the NGKs. _________________ Rich

Just bought some DR7EIX but there is no "tip" on top, just the small thread. Any idea of where I can find "tips"? My Bosch plugs have non removeable ones... _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Your nearest local mower shop or car wreckers will have buckets of them. You don'[t need new ones. In fact any mechanic shop will have them. Pinching them off the annoying Harleys next door is always an option here.....
