We in UK have been doing this for years, and also in cars too. It is plain common sense. It is a pity this tip is not used by BMW at the factory on the more prone nuts and bolts that seize up (Front fender to fork bolts for example) Or any bolt. nut, or screw that gets wet with every day running. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I've dealt with 40 or 50 odd Ks (some very abused and high mile) and never had an issue with seized plugs.
There are other bolts that have issues though:
- Alternator bolts
- Bellhousing bolts
- Front rotors bolts on the 4V K bikes _________________ 93 LT (x2)
