hi guys,

I disconnected temp guage as it was knackered. Then noticed that fan was no longer working, so pulled fairing off. got new guage from superfukt (SAAS). Think I can figure out mating of wiring, but cannot figure out how the guage provides signal to motronics. Why did fan stop working when I removed guage?

Also, where is best place to tap into to fit a manual switch and will I need a relay?

Thanks for any suggestions. These has been keeping me off the road and I am getting toey.

Cheers. ScottyJ

The two are unrelated. The temp sensor the Motronic uses for fueling and fan operation is located in the coolant output tube coming off the front of the cylinder head.

The temp sensor for the gauge is located in the drain hole at the bottom of the oil/water pump and all it does is feed the gauge. You could remove it and the gauge and the bike will run the same.

If your fan quit working when you disconnected the gauge then it is 100% coincidence.

If you want to add a manual fan switch then all it needs to do is ground the blue/yellow wire going into the fan relay. (front middle relay) No additional relay required.
