I am working on some oil leaks, replacing the rubber grommets etc. So the timing cover is now off my k11, looks like there is no gasket and the liquid gasket is clear? Can I use the black liquid gasket that was recommended for the oil pan? Thanks, I haven't noticed anything in the manual but I am getting old _________________ '96 K1100RS 40,000km |

Any gasket sealant should be fine. (Of course it needs to be oil and temperature resistant.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Take particular attention to the joint on the lower timing gear end of the crankcase where the valve cover bolts on Sometimes manufacturing is not up to BMW engineering standard and there can be a significant 'step' perhaps in some cases as much as 1/32nd of an inch between the joints and this need a little more sealant to stop leaks. _________________ 1997 K1100LT
