Bike has 100k on it. Bought 3 yrs ago from dealer.
So far have just replaced injectors, oxygen sensor, plugs.Today I found air return line coupling behind throttle bodies had come disconnected. Connected that and the surge is almost gone. Must of come loose shoving air filter in place.
The odd thing I found when replacing injectors is that I don't see a fuel pressure regulator anywhere. Ran my fingers up the 2 lines from the rail to the tank and it's just hose. I'll order a regulator. Why previous owner removed it is beyond me. The stink I'm trying to get of is a noxious CO2 smell(no smoke) that'll burn your eyes and nose. No car will come within 200 ft behind me. Could unregulated fuel pressure cause this stink? Other than that horrible smell the bike really hooks up and goes like stink. Does the regulator install inline to the front fuel line towards the front of the bike? _________________ 1993 K1100lt |

Item 2 is the fuel pressure regulator. Its a small can with three lines on it, looks like a small fuel filter. I think it's in line above the line that attaches to the rear port on the fuel rail. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

It should mount on the backside of the throttle body rail.
If yours is gone, then yea, excessive fuel pressure could cause it to run rich.
The fuel lines should run:
pressure supply line from tank to back port of fuel rail, front port of fuel rail to regulator, return line from regulator back to tank.
The early versions(k75's/100's) used a vacuum line to control the regulator, the later ones are internally set with a fixed spring. _________________ Ride safe.
