Has anyone successfully modified a stock K1100 seat to lower it, possibly by removing foam? I need a 1" lower seat, in addition to buying a 1" shorter rear shock. Thanks |

Have you tried adjusting the rear spring height?
IF you watch eBay a "low set" pops up sometimes. You could prob find a local upholstery shop to modify yours.
The aftermarket seat people (I had a Corbin) make several different heights. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

Any good upholstery shop should be able to lower the seat. The motorcycle seat guys will do it - usually for more money. You might want to get some gel pads put in if you're taking foam out.
Of course, there are also the DIY youtube videos if you decide to go that route. _________________ Jim

I had my K11 'Comfort' seat modified by removing the contours to make it almost like a bench seat which did help a little with comfort over a long ride. The uphosterer who did it was well versed in modifying seats for police bikes and just went along with that design and it works. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Where are you located?
If you're close, you could swap mine in to test.
I cut mine down a bit and kinda wish I hadn't. But with a 32" inseam, I was having trouble getting solid footing sometimes.
There's a deep "valley" in it now that prevents moving around much. It works for me as I mostly ride it to work and back, but I wouldn't want to ride it any real distance.
I basically drilled out the rivets, peeled the cover back and carefully shaped it with an angle grinder, sprayed it with headliner adhesive and refastened it with new rivets.
It makes a huge mess, but it's not difficult. _________________ '02 - GL1800
