Like almost everyone else, I've changed all the filament bulbs (except the dash) for LED's and am now dealing with the results. I've sorted out the indicator flasher relay, but the red warning triangle on the dash is permanently lit.

I've narrowed it down to the BMU (Bulb Monitoring Unit) so, I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but I was wondering whether anyone out there has modified the BMU on a K1100LT ?

I've found a mod for the 3 coil type BMU, but they appear to be as rare as rocking horse poo . . . has anyone modded the BMU version with 2 chips in it ?

Essentially I want to retain (if possible) the ABS check function of this unit.

I know that I can just remove the unit and jump a couple of wires, but that removes the ABS system check as well as permanently extinguishing the annoying red triangle lamp on the dash.

Thoughts anyone ?

Thanks for the link, but I take it that means no you can't modify it. . . or am I wrong thinking the BMU is involved with the ABS check at start up ?

BMU and ABS are separate systems that have nothing to do with each other.

You could install 6ohm 50W load resistors in parallel with each LED to fool the BMU into thinking there are incandescent bulbs in the circuit.

Hi Duck,

Thanks for that, it's plugged a gap in my knowlege.

I'll most probably use the conversion described in the link you sent me.

Once again, many thanks for your help.
