Posted: Fri Jun 02, 2017 9:54 am Post subject: HM 11 MAY 2 - 6 2018 THE LODGE IS RESERVED *11.25.17* |
|
|
The dates for HM 11 are Wednesday, May 2 through Sunday, May 6, 2017. Mark your calendars, put your spouses and SOs on notice - now. No last minute angst and bickering...
All important information will be kept in this top post. The *date* in the subject line will change when I update this post.
The Lodge is reserved.
I am not guaranteeing lodging - first come, first served. If you reserve a bunk, room or cabin, and find you can't make the event, you need to to sell your bunk, room or cabin to someone else or forfeit the charge. No refunds. Please be prepared to make payment when you reserve. Private rooms are $180.00, bunks are $90.00 - for four nights. Cabin rates vary.
Since I haven't hit the lottery yet, and there is absolutely no inheritance in sight, I'd really appreciate prompt payment. If you want to use PayPal - that's fine - no problem - use the email address in my sig and the Friends and Family option.

Days to go until HM 11
Hungry Mother Lodge - Six bedroom lodge (Sleeps 15 maximum - for our purposes, at this point, it sleeps 11). It's a great place for a get-together. This log lodge offers a view of the park. It was originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s.
Six bedrooms: Master bedroom with a double bed, three bedrooms with queen size beds, one with two sets of bunk beds (making four beds), and one bedroom with a single bed and a set of bunk beds (making three beds). There are three baths total - one in the master bedroom, and two hall baths for the other 5 rooms.
Sleeps 15. Allows 15; no cots for rent.
Kitchen: Refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, coffeemaker, dishes, dishcloth, a few dish towels, silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, microwave oven, toaster, clock radios. Also includes rustic (think Flinstones) furniture, and linens (one set per person). Lodge is climate controlled. Bring food, dish detergent, extra dish towels, coffee filters, coffee, salt and pepper, and motorcycles.
Porch, large deck and picnic shelter, washer and dryer, gas grill, gas fireplace" (The gas fireplace sucks - the fire out by the shelter is much better - as long as we can scrounge enough wood!)
I don't guarantee lodging - you have to pay to play. C = cabin, P = private room, B = bunk. Private rooms are $180.00, bunks are $90.00 - for four nights. Rates will vary depending on occupancy - I can't continue picking up the slack for unused bunks or rooms. If there are vacant bunks, the cost needs to be divided between those attending.
John --- P (paid - thank you very much)
Sean --- P (room next to back porch)
Jim ---- M
Chuck --- P (paid - thank you very much)
Gwen --- B (paid - thank you very much)

R bike... K bike - all that matters is that you're there and that you get there safely.
I might actually show up on a K bike. Who knows? One of them should be finished by then... Hard to know at this point, though. Talk about shop whores!!! _________________ Jim

I'll take a private room, will mail you a check Monday. I'm pretty sure I still have your address. My massage therapist just gave me a freezer full of venison, I'm bringing Chili again! _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

Hey Audi,
Some of us took a private room because our wives are coming.
Maybe.....oh, never mind.

Driving back from NY this weekend, trying to avoid the eclipse idiots in Charlotte, I went down 81 and stopped by HMSP. We drove through the park and up to the cabin the park was almost empty except for a few campsites and there was a group in the Lodge, prob 15 cars parked up there, we could barely drive by.
I had hoped the lodge would be empty, had planned to show Lynn all the cool stuff, but not this time.
Hard to imagine how many thousands of people had visited since we were there in May, and now end of season it's almost completely empty again.
The R1100S is running great, I've swapped the exhaust back to stock, may hang on to the straight pipe just for HM weekends. It's amazing how loud an R bike is with a straight pipe.
How many days till HMXI? _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

253 - and counting...
Sounds like a lot - but I'm still feeling like I'll be lucky to have a K bike on the road by then... The 11 has been in the shop since 9.15, and the 75RTP has been there since - well, I don't really know when. For a year, or so... _________________ Jim

213 days left until HM11
Hey, it's never too early to plan for some curvy roads.
And LOTS of laughs.
Thanks Jim.......... _________________ John & Cathy

I'm laying up parts for my "winter" makeover. Filters, brake pads, lines and such. I think I'm going to hang on to the straight pipe and muffler, and swap them again for HM. The original cat and muffler knocked the noise down,, but it did give up some performance.
My only issue is with he cat delete pipe on, there is no bumper to stop the center stand from banging on the rear strut bar. The cat has a flat spot, there is nothing on the race pipe. Anyone have an idea for something that would work?
Likewise, looking forward to seeing you guys, and riding together... _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

I know some of you are prob shoveling snow. I pulled the body work of the R bike, replaced air filter, and made progress on the winter shopping list. Planning to do valve adjustments and valve cover gaskets.

R bike is impressive, a little louder, a little more sport riding position, much lighter and easier to get around town on.
I don't know that I'll keep it forever, but it's a blast to ride.
Oh, and a client just dropped off 20 pounds of venison and 30 pounds of wild pork. the breakfast sausage is pretty awesome, no fat in the skillet when you cook it. I should have some left to bring to HM. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

I agree about it being a very fun bike to ride and the R bikes are much cooler to ride in the hot weather.
The Boxer Cup (R1100S) I had for a year or so.
I did a track day on it and had a ball- used ALL of the rear tire.
But for the type of riding I am doing now, Iron Butt rides, the semi-luxo barge R1200RT is a good tool. I feel kinda' like an old fart tooling around on a big upright bike, but this thing EATS the miles.
Oh yeah- Cathy REALLY likes it (most important feature, right?). The fact that it has a heated Russell seat and a topbox with a comfortable backrest sold her instantly.
So......164 days until HM and we show up on it. _________________ John & Cathy

I was about to say see you on 81 - then I remembered that I'm eschewing the rigors of that interstate and taking back roads.
Look forward to seeing everyone! _________________ Jim

Hi Jim and all HM-ers...
Hope everyone is looking forward to MAY as much as I am ... first however, we have to survive the coming New England winter onslaught.! This coming year on the trek south, Im going to do as Jim does (or will do ) and take only the back roads on my brand new ('09) G650gs... since it is NOT a highway flyer by any means, BUT I can get all the way to the peak of Mt.Cardigan and Mt. Kearsarge, or anywhere else the rabbits live. Dont know how long it'll take me and the "Thumper" to get from Newfound Lake to Hungry Mother..so will leave quite a bit earlier than usual. This May Im going to try to actually "see and meet people" along the way instead of simply blasting by at 6500rpm and leaving all in a trail of K-bike exhaust !!
Right now however... Im going to head home to my little village on the Bergstraße for a refresher course on whats it like to be a human being,, drink some wine,, laugh with friends,, remember who put the Christ in Christmas,, to which I want to wish ALL OF YOU K'OGers and your families, wherever you may be, a very Happy and Healthy Holiday Season.
See you in May 2018..../ Ernie in NH
