I just started to work on my K1100LT 1997, I charged the Battery
turned the key and instead of a humm, I got a grone w other unhappy sounds. Could this be a death rattle of the pump.
Also does the bike Not turn over if there is no or little pressure in the gas
lines?

Fuel pump pressure/delivery has absolutely no impact on whether the engine can be turned over using the starter button. It would just mean it would not start.

If the engine is not rotating on the button, you need to investigate why not.

How old is the fuel filter?
How much fuel is in the tank?

I have no idea the age of the gas or filter, I brought the LT in Feb
and I left it at my Mother's house in Fla. Just got it home to upstate NY.
Q what relay is tied into the starter.??

You get the WIRR as soon as you turn the key on. Mine make a racket when the fuel level is low, like the fuel in the tank quiets the pump.
