|
|
Hi,
So I removed the handlebars on my LT in preparation to add an extra washer to the rubber mounts and stiffen the steering, not that there is anything to noticeable with the steering on my bike but I thought I would just give it a go and see.
So when I undone and removed the plastic cup and bottom nut, the washer fell off in my hand and also to did a rubber washer, this happened on each side to btw and yes the rubber washers both looked a little old, cracked and disfigured etc but they are 23 years old.
Now after looking at a photo of the new rubber mounts online above and also on the RealOEM parts diagram, I notice that there are no rubber washers shown, only a metal washer and nut.
So I am guessing that my two "rubber washers" are actually the bottom section of the rubber mounts that have sheared off over time and broken due to age?
Would and could this be possible as I am not to sure just how far the rubber mounts come through when installed new for this to happen, has anyone else had this happen.
I think 2 x new rubber mounts are needed asap, and if that's the case would anyone in Australia have 2 x spare ones they want to sell before I go buying new from OS etc. _________________ Cheers Grant

Hey Grant,
You figured it out. The "washers" are what's left of the rubber mounts. The mounts aren't that expensive - you should be able to order them from any dealer and get them fairly quickly. _________________ Jim
