Hi
Broke one of the Pannier to frame lock post last summer and need to replace it.
Found a new set at Motorworks http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=40&Ct=WA&SbCt=BA_15_40_WA_35
Mounted the lock post to pannier before but how to remove / install the lock barrel to the lock post?

Great Thnx!

A note besides the subject of this thread: Expect to get a package with items from Motoworks by the end of next week incl. the lock post mentioned in this thread.
Presently on the desk: installing spikes on the TKC80 tyres for the K11LT.

Not sure if I really understand your post but if drilling out the rivets on the bag locks to replace them then one thing you have to be careful of is heat. If the drill heats up the rivet too much then it will melt the plastic/ABS and make the hole too big for a new rivet.

Take it easy and use either fresh water or time to keep things cool.

The rivet material is aluminium and quite soft. use a good sharp drill bit (I use cobalt tipped) and there will be no risk of melting the plastic.

If you feel you still dont want to risk it, better to use a dab of grease than water, This will have the added benefits of making a drill less likely to jam and also keeping the swarf in one place.

Thanks for your tips, will be carefull at drilling and if the drill jams or it will heat up the rivet close to risk for melting the plastic, I will use a dremel and grind it out.
Will also bear in mind that core of the rivet are in steel and the "tube" are in AL.

Done:
Swapped the lock cylinder from the cracked to the new post.
The lock cylinder was a bit jammed due to a of road dust ( from gravel roads ;-(
Time to mount the post with lock to the pannier.
