Does anyone have a photo of the arrangement of the rubber heat bolsters on the drivers right side? I have two pieces and can't figure out to install them for the life of me.

Ha! This was my question too. Except I have two pieces on the riders left side. The one goes just forward of the knee pad, but I can't remember where the smaller one goes. I thought I knew when I took it out, but after having everything apart for a couple of days, I couldn't figure out how that one piece went back in. I hope some one out there can help.

Not sure what pieces you have to fit, but this may help some.

Part #5(specifically the 'finger') is installed on top of the airbox along side of part #2.

#3 is the one I was struggling with. I looked at the micro fiche at Max, and it didn't even show those parts - or I missed them some how. I'd like to find something that shows exactly where it tucks in.

Part #3 fits on the top of the head and that nice squared off notch fits around the fuel rail. The bit of the piece that fits on the backside of the fuel rail lines up with part #1. The hole in #1 is intended for the fuel line to pass thru.
And the top edge of #3 lines up with the bottom edge of #2 as well.

It can be somewhat of a PIA to get them in. #2, 4 & 5 fit best before the fuel tank is set in place.

If I get some time this weekend I'll get my camera out as see what I can get a picture of.

A picture would be great. I had the lowers off to check the valves, replace air filter, change all oils, etc., etc., and I left #3 on the bench until after everything was back together. I tried to remember where it went, took off the left knee pad again, but I think it goes a bit farther forward than I can reach until I take the left lower off again.

Ok, here's some pics, though I'm not sure how much help they will be as I have LT's and they won't be exactly the same. They fit around the front side of #3 TB.

I thought I would resurrect this instead of creating new post. Does anyone have a work around for these heat screens?

Mine are either missing or cracked and falling apart. Living in Phoenix now I can really tell the difference, My left thigh gets hot fast. Insert pun here>>>

BMW wants $350.00 for a set, ridiculous, I'm not spending that kind of money on rubber foam. Beemerboneyard has them for $45, that's fine but as usual they are OOS.

Scott, anyway you can repost those pic's?

Thanks,

If you can get the part numbers from Max's site, google them, someone must have used ones somewhere. On a LT the force the hot air out the fairing vents, not straight on your legs.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I already had max's site up but didn't think they would be available anywhere else.

Well good news, I found the old insulators some broke, cracked but able toget them to work. Thanks to the diagram and pictures (Scott), I was able to figure out where they go.

Thanks again gentlemen,
