Hi all . Recently had a battery fry itself in the time it took to get it un hooked when the relay welded on a 95 k1100 I had just acquired and was starting to get running after being parked for a while . I wound up having to cut the earth strap to the battery as the 95 battery is to hard to get at in a hurry .I decided to install an inline cut off on all my ks in future as this is not the first time this has occurred. Its simply just a battery isolator wired into the earth lead of the battery including the abs earth, in the event of the relay welding on its easy and quick to kill power and avoid damage to battery and starter motor. PS its not a bad theft prevention if you get one with the removable switch handle in case you have to leave your k somewhere a bit dodgy. The only comment I'll add, you could install the cut off in the wire from the relay to the starter.
Thus able to disconnect a run-a-way starter, as well as being able to "disable" a un-authorized starting attempt without resetting your clock everytime.
It could be located under the seat so it's "out of sight" and inaccessible if the seat is locked. _________________ Ride safe.

Yeah that would work too but I like being able to kill all the power cause k's roll start fairly easy and it don't take much to reset the clock ,also its not something you do all the time _________________ 92k1100 lt with sidecar. 93K1100 CAFE..86K75C.95 k1100lt |
