I have 2 different keys for my K1100. One is for a replacement lock on one of the side pocket lids in the fairing. The other is the original and fits all the other locks on the bike including the panniers.

When I went to unlock the seat today, the key would not work. I eventually managed to get the seat open by using another key from my K75S. The profiles of the different keys are not even similar.

Once the seat was opened I tried it locking it again, however this proved impossible unless I used the other key.

Just how on earth can the tumblers of the lock alter whilst it is in place?
