|

Don't want to admit that I'm getting older but I can barely swing my right leg over my '04 K1100LT ABS because it is very tall. I would normally step up & put my left foot on the left foot peg, stand on the peg and swing my right leg over to mount. I can't do that on my bike cause it leans over to the left way too far. I have replaced all the wear parts in the side stand but it is still too short. I could learn to mount from the right side but I don't want to. Anybody know of side stand extensions or have any other suggestions. Later,,, De _________________ '13 FJR Yamaha

I have modified mine only yesterday by adding a small plate of metal on the base about 15mm thick. Made of aluminium and secured in place with 4 x 1/2" self tapping screws. It reduces the angle of lean by approx 50% _________________ So many roads - so little time - and the weather is bad!

Numerous riders have added blocks to the bottom of the foot of the side stand to help reduce the lean angle.
Just watch the clearances to the center stand when the side stand is folded up so they don't hit. _________________ Ride safe.

My first LT leaned too far over and upon investigation it became obvious that the side stand was a bent a bit upwards. My current LT sits up quite a bit higher with a nice straight stand. I was going to straighten the stand on the older bike but it got sold before I could do that. Shouldn't be difficult if one has a hot enough torch to get the stand up to bright orange and give it a few whacks. Not on the bike of course. _________________ Paul W.
