Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the bike, '96 K11RS 69K miles.
At low engine speed (2000 -2500rpm) without a load the engine stumbles and runs rough. If I add throttle quickly to get above this range it seems to run smooth.
If I am on the bike and taking off from a stop and come into this rpm range the bike is bucking and stalling so bad that the engines dies.

I thought this was related to bad fuel as I had purchased some low cost fuel a couple of tanks ago. Back then the engine was doing a hiccup every once in awhile. At that time I removed all of the fuel from the tank and replaced it with new (hopefully good fuel) and the bike seemed to run good for a tanks worth.
Now I have the above described issue.
I again removed and replaced the fuel plus a new fuel filter.
But I still have the same engine issue.

At 59K miles I had a major service done. I told the dealer to "zero" time the bike except for rebuilding the engine, trans and rear end.
So wheel bearing, cables, fluids, filters, plugs and tires plus whatever else.

A couple of hundred miles ago I replaced the tires again. As I drove home from the dealer the bike died three times. Each time as I came to a stop- just like I hit the Kill switch. As I pulled up to a stop it died, at Stop sign, behind stopped traffic and as I pulled into my garage.

This morning I pulled the spark plugs and they were dark and wet. Their edges were sharp, only 10K miles on them.

any ideas???
Thanks
Larry

Larry,

The dying when coming to a stop could be due to needing a TB sync. (Did the dealer adjust the valves?)

How are the boots connecting the TBs to the head? Could have some rubber cracking- hard to detect.

The stopping just happened three times on one day a month or so ago.
Now the major symptom is the bucking, stalling, no power at low rpms.
Do you think the dying issue is related to these different symptoms?

10K ago when they redid almost everything I remember they replaced a lot of vacuum hoses and rubber parts. I am at work and cannot access the work order.
I will check later today.
Thanks

I broke down and took it to the dealer. At first glance they think it is fuel related. So I am a bit concerned about some type of computer box and boocoo money.

I had pretty much exactly the same issues with an FJ1200 years ago.
It turned out one of the HT leads had deteriorated and was arcing.
How it was diagnosed was, on the advice of a mechanic friend, one by one I wrapped the HT leads where they enter the plug cap with insulating tape.
When I got to number 3, the problem disappeared, so I knew that was the one, although as a precaution I changed all 4.
The problem never came back.
Worth a try if only to eliminate this as a possibility..
