Lost a mirror yesterday.
It was my fault.
I was filtering through heavy traffic and knocked my offside mirror against a truck, and it popped off onto the ground.
Not just the mirror, but the whole assembly, which attaches to the fairing with three pop studs.
The electrical connection was not strong enough to hold it on.
By the time I'd pulled over and walked back, it had been run over and flattened into a thousand pieces.
So what I've done with the other side, is attach the mirror from inside to the fairing with a cable tie, so if it happens again, the mirror will just hang hang, rather then fall off.
I now have to search for another mirror, which I probably won't find in the right colour.
What a pain. |

Bad luck mate. That's the way most of us learnt to attach the damned things with a lanyard.

Has anyone come up with a workable way to tether an LT mirror to the fairing? _________________ 1993 K1100LT Classic Metallic Black |

| Well yeah you cam come up with a tether easy, go to the fishing supply store, buy some fishing line, (not much) and a swivel. Cut the line about 6 to 8 inches, tie one end to the inside frame, inside the fairing, behind the electrical wire, use the swivel to attach somewhere to the mirror. Works like a charm. My wife is always knocking mine off in the garage, after breaking one, I decided to tether them. No more broken or lost mirror! |

One of the first things I got for my K were stainless steel mirror tethers. They have loops at both ends. Inside the mirror you loop the tether around a little bar that is in there. Then you secure the other end inside the fairing. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Works on RS only - not on LT...
