I joined this forum because I bought a basket case K1100RS and read a lot of the posts and found a lot of very useful information. No argument from me, I was self-serving without much intention to contribute.
I'm no stranger to BMW two-wheelers and I have owned about one of every kind from thumpers to airheads, oilheads, hexheads and bricklets. The K1100RS is my first brick. I like basket-cases and find the Beamers the most fun to understand.
On and off over the years I have been a BMWMOA member.
If you are a BMWMOA member, please tell me it's not my imagination that this is club made up of arrogant, self-centered know it all's that wear black socks with their sandals and take off their helmets so they can wear a Tilley hat? Is it true that when they aren't riding they are on the Model Railway Club site telling everybody else how smart they are? |

I join each year just to belong
The Flea Market section has the WORST search feature.
Otherwise there's LOTS of Starbucks cruiser types posting their problems/ views.
I haven't been to a national rally but I have been to several state BMW club weekends and I have seen way too many of the folks you described.
We also have a truck camper for weekends away and I swear some of those BMWMOA folk have lots of relatives in RV campgrounds.
The best part (maybe the only good part) of the MOA forum is the combined K bike knowledge of Paul Glaves and Don Eilenberger. _________________ John & Cathy

Haven't been to a rally lately,
Had to google Tilley Hat
Maybe its time to let my membership lapse? _________________ Mike Currin

When I go to rallys ( I only go to a few local ones now, the last National I went to was DuQuion, IL to give you some perspective)
I hang out with the old guys 70+, a lot of them are still old fashioned; otherwise I attend Moto Guzzi rallys were it is still olde-timey. _________________ 1967 SEARS (Gilera) 106SS

I've attended 10 of the last 12 MOA rallies, but then I'm an Airhead which makes them all better. But the Tilley hat _________________ '93 K1100LT
