What kind of tool does it take to remove the radio? The one in my bike seems kaput, I get a LCD number indication in the window when I turn it on but that's it, no response from any of the buttons. I'd like to get it working if I could get it out maybe send it to Sierra in Reno who repairs bike radios. One other possibility is that it has theft protection and needs to be reset. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Hi, I'm sort of in the same boat - but not even a radio code coming up. I'm having trouble getting the radio bracket out. It is claimed to be easy so I'm obviously missing something simple.

It sounds like someone has entered the wrong code after a power loss. If you know the code you can still enter it but you first have to get the wrong code removed by pressing the I believe the upper left button for a few seconds. I'm not quite sure of which button it is but I do recall it is at the top.

Thanks kioolt (coincidence having the same name as your bike - spooky!) Extremely useful info. I will bear that in mind once I have some sign of life in the thing.

At the top and bottom of the radio is a small hole. Insert a piece of wire (coathanger or welding rod) into both which will release the clips and the radio should slide out.
I had the same problem with codes. I took it to a local car radio supply shop and he re coded it in minutes.

Yep, I got that, thanks johnthehedger. I used four old bike spokes and wiggled them around in the fascia holes, going about 2" or so deep. To remove the entire carrier with the radio, the three small round holes (not the half-moon ones) in the carrier plate itself got the same treatment, though a slim flat screwdriver in each works better. Trouble is, previous owner hacked the loom for Garmin and, I think, Autocom. I need to find time (and patience) to yank the whole pocket out to see what's up. There is no life at all in the radio or the fag lighter. All the main fuses are good, as is the one in the base of the radio itself. I'm guessing the power has been robbed for either of the above or (unlikely) for some excellent running lights also fitted. I reckon that if I get the pocket out and reconnect all the radio leads and disconnect the garmin mini-loom, I stand a good chance of getting it to work - just for the heck of it really. I have the radio code and the resetting instructions. Right now, a faint crackle would be better than nothing. I expect that if I fail in this task, I'll just pull the whole thing and give myself a left handed cupboard space. Don't like giving in though....
