There are two vent lines on the bottom side of the K1100 fuel tank. The aft one is not a vent, but rather, it is a drain. It is placed in the fuel cap basin, so that water can drain somewhere other than into the fuel tank. This drain is hooked to a line that dribbles water under the right foot peg mount. Simple.

The forward vent is actually a vent. It has a tube hooked to it, with a check valve, that goes to the forward crank case. No clamps are used on the vent, which is the forward tube, or the vent, which is really a drain, which is the rearmost tube. Is this correct?

My K1100RS is hooked up in the "original" factory manner, and after I shut down the engine, I can hear the machine making a squeaking sound, like air is being exchanged. I'm thinking that the fuel cap is leaking air inward, because I have a pinched or plugged line. Occasionally, after a ride, the machine doesn't start as quickly as it normally does.

How should this system be disabled or modified? Where should the engine crankcase vent? Ambient air must be allowed to fill the fuel tank, as the fuel is used.
It seems like my factory check valve is installed backwards, so that air cannot go into the fuel tank as fuel is consumed. Certainly, this makes the fuel pump work much harder than necessary...

Any help would be appreciated!

when installing the cup, get rid of that hose that goes to the front and place a rubber cap over the vent pipe sticking up at the front middle of the motor.
