Gidday,

Anyone have a spare, old, used, 94 K1100 LT manual for sale that you want to part with??

I know you can download it off the web but I much prefer the book out in my workshop than 400 bloody pages laying about everywhere.

Just asking the question!!

I suppose they are as rare as rock'in horse shit but you just never know what is lay'in around a blokes man cave.

Postage to Oz is not that $$ actually, I have brought many large items from the USA for my old 1928 Chevrolet and had them shipped/posted over here, so a manual should be a walk in the park..

I understand completely about wanting a printed copy. I picked one up on eBay for about $35US a couple of years ago. I occasionally see them for that price or lower, but not at the moment. (With the PDF readily available I wasn't willing to pay more than $50 for an oiled up dog-eared copy.)

Here's one for $50US plus ~$10 handling to Oz:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Motorcycle-K1100-LT-RS-Original-Factory-Repair-Manual-/200793836775?hash=item2ec03ecce7&item=200793836775&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

I'm guessing you've already explored the eBay option, but just mentioning it in case you hadn't.

Gidday,

Many thanks for the reply.

Yes but only a couple of times have a glanced over ebay for one, I can get a new Clymers one from the UK for about 80.00 aussie dollars.

Starting to realise they are rare, may just have to bite the bullet and grab one..

Cheers

The BMW CD off the web doesn't have everything in, can't remember what's missing, but I know I needed it.
Haynes don't do one that covers the K11.
Clymer IS the best.
However for the truly parsimonious, All the info you need is here, Check the stickies, browse the linked sites & Use the Search Button, there's gems of info going back years.
AFAIK there's no problem that hasn't had a solution eventually identified by the collective experience on this Forum.
Good luck with your fault finding.

Gidday Tim,

Well said, and yes would agree 100% with the info and help on here.

Just nothing like sitting out in the shed, covered in grease holding the manual in my hands trying to make head and or tail of the situation instead of running back and fourth, in and out of the house looking at the computer screen..

Maybe time for a laptop!!

Cheers and thanks for the reply

Grant

Hi, I'm VERY new (like 2 days) into K11 ownership and my new bike came with an owner handbook but no workshop manual. I have the pdf of the BMW service manual, but I really need a "how to" and recall the Clymer I had for my old R80 was excellent, if not as good as a Haynes. My question is, does the Clymer Workshop Manual for K-series 1985-1997 also cover the 1998 K1100LS SE (Highline) model? I'm fairly sure it would but I'd like to know if there any changes to the model for 1998. Exact date of manufacture is 13 March 1998. I hope any future posts will sound less dumb! Any insights most welcome. Thanks.

What you have should be fine.

The book was published based upon the "US" model sales that ended in '97, but the bike continued to be sold for another couple of years elsewhere with no major changes.

Welcome to the forum....

Thank you Scott. A well known (in the UK at least) BMW parts supplier couldn't give me a definitive answer, saying the last one was made in 97... Now I am looking forward to some better informed spannering, though I suspect that getting the radio to work may be a long term objective. Meanwhile, exhaust studs are waiting to be done and the dragging rear caliper needs an overhaul. Glad to be here Very Happy

Well just a little quick looking at 2 different parts distributor web fiche's seem to indicate that the last "production" date of the LT was 4/99 for the EU region, and 3/97 for the USA market.

I have a Clymer manual for my K1100 and I'm NOT impressed. I found some of the instructions and diagrams to be incomplete. The photographs are not good quality either. I found the instructions and advice on this (and other similar) forums to be far more useful.

The Clymer manual is also fondly referred to as The Book of Lies...

True that, Jim.
I also found that their other manuals are no better.
I know the one for my older Honda Accord is a bundle of misinformation.
I had so much trouble with one job that I finally went onto youtube to find out how to do the procedure. It came in video and FREE. Clymer left out one important screw that had to be removed to enable removal of an assembly.
I find that Clymer also likes to use a lot of yada yada shortcuts and will bullshit you through some procedures using a kind of generic description.
