Hello guys,

First of all thankyou for having me here.
I just bought my first bmw motorbike , a 1996 k1100lt abs.
The last owner installed a bmw radio on it and somehow I managed to code lock it....so I said let me do a hard reset and I removed the battery...obviously it did not work eventually I fixed that issue...but now istead of having the abs lights flash I only get a solid abs light on the left side only all the time....the red triangle dissapears when I press both brakes
Tried the abs2 reset with no luck...I think I am doing it wrong..
Should I take the battery out again ?

Thank you for your support.

Have you read thru this thread about resetting and diagnostics?
http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2110

Sometimes it may take multiple attempts to read/reset the fault codes....

Some have not been able to get the system to reset so they just covered the lights and let the system be. Then months later they notice under the tape that the system had cleared on it's own and removed the tape and have a fully functional system..........voodoo at it's finest.

Hello,

How did you solve this? I have tried holding the ST button down for over 10secs but the incorrect code stubbornly refuses to disappear. I have left it switched on for over 3 hours as well as disconnecting it for over a week?. I have the correct input code just it seems no way apart from sending it away for it to be reset? I am interested if you did anything I haven't done to resolve?

Best regards,

David

Yeah, you have to hold the st button , then turn on the ignition ..and you have to hold it somewhat between 10 to 30 seconds until the screen goes blank , then you can enter the code.

Hello,

Thanks for the answer - On another forum it was suggested that I visit a Saab forum and it paid dividends as it suggested holding the "Band" button down rather than the "ST" button, turning on the ignition and waiting 10-30 seconds which proceeded to clear the code and I was able to enter the correct one.

Best regards,

David

So, I am really disappointed......I tried to find out what error the ABS system is showing but I got nothing and I decided to take the bike to a BMW shop ...the guys had only the round socket and told me to take the bike to a BMW dealer so where else to take but to the Main dealership in Bucharest ...after waiting for about 1h for someone to pick me up from the counter the guy told me that they do not have time to do a diagnostic on the bike until the end of next week....

And to make things better an gentleman cracked my right side case....

Today was not a good day for science...

Gidday Folks,

Mate just keep chipping away at it as you'll get it sorted one day soon, well that's the approach that I'm taking with mine...
