|
|
I just replaced the O-ring which died, severely oiling my clutch. Reassembling, I'm having troubles getting the trans to mate with the motor.
I followed Duck's instructions, mated everything up, and it slid together easily. Apparently, I jiggled something when taking it apart to actually lube the splines & install the clutch pushrod, no love on reassembly.
I loosened everything, and aligned with the pushrod & socket method. My socket had a good fit, everything eye balled nicely, and again, no love.
The input shaft does slide easily into the splines in the clutch plate. I'm not able to get the alignment pins on the motor in the holes of the transmission. Looking at them, it seems that I'm dead on, off by a nothinginth of an inch.
My Ural & R100 were cooperative. Any ideas on how to make the K1100 cooperate? _________________ 1993 K1100LT

Maybe it's just a matter of raising or lowering the back of the transmission. I have used the pushrod/socket method on mine and it went right together. I have heard of people just eyeballing the alignment with out issue. I am sure that you will get it.

I guess that you have the transmission on gear and rotate the output shaft while fitting it back. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

The Eagle has landed, or at least the trans & engine are coupling nicely. Not sure what I did differently. Maybe being a bit more P/O'ed helps?
Or maybe I found how to communicate with the brick? I find setting my 18lb sledge hammer nearby tends to intimidate mechanical things.
Thanks! Now back to wrenching! _________________ 1993 K1100LT

I've found that sometimes it just requires the proper four letter words strung together in the proper order. _________________ Mike Currin

I didn't know the order was important. Must have just been lucky in the past. _________________ 1993 K1100LT

Sometimes I have to try several combinations to get a part to fit. _________________ Mike Currin
