Just to let you know how well an old Brick can go !!
Ben Kingham on his RAM suspended [ forks and shocker ] K100 has won the B.E.A.R.S. Race series outright with a bike he converted from an old washed out tourer !
In only his second season he won most of the races [ 1 x DNF and 1 x podium ] to take the Trophy against some seriously expensive machinery.
In his first season he won several races, but was using a STOCK K100 8V engine.
I personally supplied parts I'd developed for my own Kay projects and RAM supplied the rear shocker [ like you buy off the shelf ] and specially made Goldline progressive fork springs.
For 2013 RAM supplied fork springs for the stock K100 forks and an off the shelf "C" version of the monoshock.

I'll check with Ben Kingham ................. the results ARE fantastic when you consider the amount of money the others threw at their Jotas, Triumphs, Guzzis, etc. !!
In 2012 he won 2 races outright - WITH A STOCK ENGINE ! _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |

That's cool. Is that with the early (pre-US emissions) cams or the later ones? Or does it really matter?
Edit: And don't give all of the credit to the bike. Obviously whoever is riding it is a major factor too. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Excellent!
I have wanted to take my K100RS to a track day- done a few over the past 3 years (Ducati Monster, Kawi ZX6R and Boxer Cup) . But none with a brick.
Might have to do some on my K next year. _________________ John & Cathy

The 2012 engine was totally stock - apart from electronics and repositioning of the FI.
Ben's being a bit coy about the 2013 engine [ ! ], but it's basically stock aprart from cams, blueprinting, porting.
Yes, he is a good pilot, racing amongst other weapons a 1000 Vincent ! That said there is a good mixture of experienced riders in the series and Ben give due credit to the basic "rightness" of the Brick concept.
When I was developing the RAM shocker [ seems ages ago now ! ] my test mule was turned over to a friend who is a bit of a track day warrior.
At first he wasn't all that excited about testing the bike on a closed circuit, but after we did a back to back with totally stock [ good condition ] OEM suspension and the then RAM prototype stuff - I couldn't get him off it.
His daily ride is a Fireblade and the Brick went round [ stock motor apart from exhaust ] the track just 2.5 seconds slower after the suspension swap and dial in session. _________________ Beachcomber '93 K1100RS / '93 K1100LT and several K100's |
