I'm with Ernie!
As a relatively new K owner, I've got alot to learn, and would enjoy the opportunity to gain some knowledge from some of our more "seasoned" members. Plus, I've got an intermittent problem with my water temp indicator not working, that I hope could be addressed at the gathering. _________________ Scot

Oh have I got a STORY for you on that!
All I can say is replace the guage rigth the heck now!
Check the other stuff first , but swap in a used gauge.
I ALMOST had a fire on my hands in 2009 at the BMW MOA if far East PA.
I think the guage hot wire shorted out and the hot wire cooked off all the insulation right into the main harness! Was bright red glowing!
I made it home OK after cutting the wire & running no fuel or temp guage but it was hairy.
Spent about 10 hours fixing the harness too! _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

That depends on who breaks down and who crashes!
The wealth of K bike knowledge that will be at HM is more than you'll ever see in one place.
The problem is no one will have the all the shop tools for a proper tech session. But you can certainly gain a lot of valuable K bike info from the group. There isn't a question that someone won't know the answer for. _________________ Steve

Steve, thanks for the breakdown memories...
I wish I had a pic of Sean(rydor's) hemoraged brake line after leaving HM4...he drove it back to Atlanta with only a back brake, so we could make a set of Custom SS lines...
sadly, its the 3rd set of stock BMW brake lines ive seen hemorage!! although Sean's was a special circumstance...
Looking forward to HM6..... |

Holy moly is EVER going to warm up?
Got to work 45 min ago, 35 F degrees and pouring rain.
I MAY have to leave the great big Aero Flow on the bike to get to HM this year.
Yes, I ride in the rain, like all you do too.
How else am I going to test my gear before leaving at the end of the month? _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

I feel your pain.....
The road to my house (some of you have experienced it during drier weather) is currently a mix of sort-of-dry and mud hole.
Haven't had the K bike out yet this year- been DP'ing it.

It was 85 here today and I had to turn on the house AC for the first time.
Still works, yea!
But, before Sunday, it hadn't been above 60 for weeeeks, and mostly in the forties.
So much for Spring! _________________ Steve

I'm in Playa del Carmen, Mexico right now. Was 89 today.
If I bring disc brake bobbins, can I get proper supervision installing them? _________________ '93 K1100LT

Or so says the man with the Laverda "lump hammer" repair tool
Maybe you should send it to the U.S. and we can perform some fine tuning at HM. Or is it a Laverda only tool? _________________ John & Cathy

OI, Don't you diss the lump hammer, it's been used on the K as well, mind you only to 'adjust' a slightly bent brake lever..... _________________ K1100RS '97

WOW!
I think my problem is more related to the temp guage wiring harness connector needing a good cleaning. Last summer, I kinda half-assed cleaned it (cuz I didn't have a proper tool to get down into those tiny spaces around the male & female connections) and it worked well for about a month. then, it became intermittent again.
Anybody who's coming to HMSP have any tiny little cleaning brushes? _________________ Scot

Hi "".. buddy of Omar ""
Look... just go to the local electrical supply store and pick up a tube of "DeOxit" terminal cleaner.. Keep it handy in the rear tool compartment, use it religiously and your 'corroded terminal' problems will be over. See you at HMSP-VI !!
