Now that winter is finally here, I thought that I better fix my heated grips.
I had to repair the 'Hot Wire' a while back, which probably broke due to wrenching the bike on the centre stand.
Splicing the ends together made the grip a lot hotter which started to melt the wire into the plastic inner tube.
So, I thought that I would have a look at the printed circuit type that you will find if you Google 'Heated Grip'.
They only cost a tenner, so what the heck.
So far, I'm very impressed.
Easy to fit, with a bit of soldering, and toasty, toasty warm.
The kit came with the two heating elements which are sticky on one side, two lengths of heat shrink and wiring (which you can discard, if you had the BMW heated grips to start with).
They seem to draw about the same amps as the standard grips, so no worries about the original BMW wiring.
A far cheaper fix than BMW OEM.
Anybody else had a go at this?
As they are quite flexible, they could possibly be used under the seat cover for a toasty heated seat...

The K100RS I bought a few years ago came with fried grip wiring.
I have big hands so I cut the stock and useless wiring off and placed a couple of those printed circuit heaters over the existing grips.
Then covered those with soft foam grips. Works well- just a bit slower than the original equipment heaters. _________________ John & Cathy
