Wow.. I bought this 102K mileage K, thinking, OK, I'll have lots of small stuff to tinker with!

nuttin.... Everything works, nothing is loose.. oh wait, I DID glue a reflector back on, and tuned in the rear suspension to haul my load..

I have had the bike (see my post in pictures) for a couple of days, and about 350 miles now... and it just works. well... even the ABS...

hmmmmm, what to do... Oh! I know.. GO RIDING AGAIN!

So in love with this old bike... what have I been missing for so long.. it's over 90 degrees today, and it's STILL out there calling me for another ride

My 57k K1100rs has provided me with enough tinkering to last me for a long time. A full week spent working on it only scratched the surface. All depends on the previous owner(s), I suppose. And while I'm having a gentle moan, the weather in the North of the UK is dreadful (again) - cloudy and blowing half a gale and more rain on the way....... Rolling Eyes

Funny Story, I was going through the original documents, and found the first owner in the maintenance booklet, rang him up at the number listed and lo and behold, he answered! He is about my age (53) and had purchased the bike new, in early 94. We talked for over an hour about every cycle related. He still lives in town, and is coming to the shop to see the old girl. He was thrilled to hear it was still going strong with over 102K on the clock. Now to track down all the subsequent owners :0)

Finally, not sure how I missed it, or if it just got to the point where I could see it, but I got to fix a crack on the exhaust, of course, it was at the collector, welded it up just fine, for now.... I know it'll crack again, but I'll probably reinforce it, rather than buy an expensive exhaust, I like the way it sounds.....

I have had one bad experience as a former owner.

Back a couple years ago I had a huge brain fart- bought a new Kawasaki Concours and sold my '93 K1100RS.

At the end of that summer I saw a Craigslist ad for my K-RS. The guy who bought it from me was selling and had a couple pictures. The bike looked terrible- it was filthy and most likely was kept outside.

I called him but he had sold it. I felt horrible for the bike and the fact that I had sold it. Hope that the new owner is taking more care of it.

Looks like your bike is already having a better life.

They all crack eventually, tis road vibration & a BIG heavy box. I was told & I agreed with the suggestion, that the prime cause is the big disc rubber which hardens with age, heat etc.

Mainly item 12 but 14 wouldn't go amiss too.
Sure you will have done it, but for others reading this, check the integrity of the exhaust (header) studs & nuts periodically, they snap off.
