Does anyone know what the annoying rattling/scraping noise coming from the front wheel area is on my k1100? It is especially noticable when I reverse the bike and turn the handlebars far left or far right.
Thanks, JAG _________________ JAG 1993K1100RS |

K 11`s got floating discs up front, check the play between disc(s) and disc hub(s).

Ditto, it's most likely your floating brake disk rotors making the noise.
Check your "bobbins", as they become more worn, the noise will get louder.
The bobbins are the disposable part of the floating disk system. Cheaper to replace them than the acutal disk or carrier.
You should have some "side-to-side"(as looking at from the front or rear) play, but very little "rotation"(as looking at it from the side) play.
If you have too much "rotation" play, it's time to replace the bobbins and e-clips. _________________ Ride safe.

std rollpin bobbin 34112310086 $3.66x18=$65.88
spring rollpin bobbin 34112310995 $6.47x6=$38.82
lock ring 34112310089 $0.50x24=$12.00
This is what I ordered for mine this year from Max BMW.
You can re-use the washers, but I don't advise to try and re-use the e-rings. DAMHIK. _________________ Ride safe.

You can also buy Beringer ones, I installed them on 2 bikes and last longer than the stocks. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Well, I bought mine in France so I guess you'll have to google to find them. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

Thank you #6. I got mine from Motobins, but I see they don't stock them anymore. Good to know Beringer has them. _________________ Jim

Hey Number 6,
Thanks for the links, one would think that all those concrete blocks fell on my head. I kept spelling it wrong and ended up giving up in aggravation. Thanks.
