Alright then.
I wrote about me powder coating the wheels on my 93K1100RS. Well, I also did those spacers on each side. Can't have those as the old silver ya know.
When I assembled everything, it all went together normal. No issues.
Go for a ride, test the brakes. Back, front, all good. Run it up faster & re-check. Still good. Third times the charm, faster now, all AOK.
Back home, check it all once more cause I can & head out riding.
The very first stop I am rolling up on. Brake, down shift, clutch in, WTH!!!!
I have front brake lever pressure but the bike is NOT slowing down! Double pump the front brake lever and the front end heads for the road. Good bike. Modulate the pressure to smooth things out, stop fine. Head for a parking lot & try this some more. Sometimes the front brake is good, somtimes it seems to have pressure at the lever but no brake effect. I have seen this before. Classic internal line delamination and the interior of the rubber hose is causing a partial blockage. So I thought. Get on line and order Galfer brake line kit. Get kit, it's all fubar. No joy, wrong fittings to only one back line. They do not know the diff between ABS I & II and must think it's all the same. Been working with them to get a complete bolt up kit for ABS I. I get more lines next week.
Well, the bikes not THAT bad and I DO have a back brake so I am riding. At all speeds over 15 MPH the brake NEVER exhibts this BS, so I ride & ride. About a week and half later I get the ABS light show and they will not go out. Oh crud. I have had this ride since 08 and never had ANY issues with the ABS. Now I do. So, the ABS goes into NO ABS for you mode and guess what, fooking brakes are perfect!. Now WTF!!!
So, I go get the 2.5V LED and print out the ABS trouble shooting info. Count the blinks of the light when hooked up to the center diagnostic plug. I have a front sensor gap error? WTH? I put it all together PERFECT!!! Remeber the powder coating on the spacers? I finally did. Damn, that space from the pick up to the wheel ring looks a bit big. Take off sensor, remove .020" shim. There are 3 total under there. Reassemble, use wire to center diagnostic plug and do the ignition on then hold down the ABS reset to clear the code. Turn bike off, take wire off. Start bike. ABS lights come on, tap both brakes, ABS lights seem normal. Take it off center stand and just roll it about 6' and the ABS lights go off. Button it all up and check it all again. Go for a ride and everything is PERFECT!!!!!!
I have good ABS and solid brakes.
A big thank you to all here as without sites like this, and that other site, you know, MOTOBRICK.COM, I'd be just fishing in the dark.
I'll let you all know about the new Galfer lines when I get them all and work through the install. Flying duck had issues with his set too. Bewteen the 2 of us we'll get it all right with Galfer so these can bollt right up. I so do NOT look forward to bleeding the systems again, but man O' man I am getting good at it.
Till I get the lines in a week or so..... _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

Did we discuss the difference between Galfer and Speigler?
Thought we did?
I am looking to replace my lines later this year and was wondering if Speigler has the same screw-ups that you experienced?
Good that you got the bike sorted. _________________ John & Cathy

I cannot remember if there are reports comparing them.
Been fun to work with them getting it all straight, but it takes paitience.
Once I have the new kit installed I am sending all my old lines to them marked up so as to aid them in a kit that is truly a bolt on.
This should also then fit K100's as well with ABS I.
I must say, if the Speigler would have been a direct fit, knowing what I do now, I think I may have ordered from them instead. The service & reponse has been good from Galfer, very cooperative, so I enjoy the challenge of helping get a solid kit that's good for other K-bikers. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!

Not sure about the RS but the Speigler kit went on my 93 LT without a hitch. The LT is ABS I. They also had kits for ABS II.
