Larry,
Thanks for being there for the K11OG, however you feel appropriate.

John:
I've done a search on the forum but couldn't find anything about Harriet's funeral. El Paso was their latest residence but their base here was not their only one.
So if anyone hears of arrangements, i'd appreciate the info. The local papers charge an arm and a leg for the simplest of notices, and too many folks go to their final rest without notice from the newspaper.

There is no service currently.
Since he had so many friends from all over, I am hoping to have a memorial get together sometime later in the year (when the feelings are more "remember the good times" and less "cancer sucks.")
I was thinking mid-;ate June. Will that interfere with any of the usual gatherings?

Marian,
That sounds fine as far as any other K11 meetings. They are scheduled for August and September.
Thank you for letting us know.
See you at HM?

I have just logged in for the first time in weeks and am very sad to hear of Phil's passing. I never met him in person but was the beneficiary of his knowledge on more than one occasion. A good, honest man and a life well lived. We should all do so well.
Rest in peace brother, and my condolences to you Marian. May all these wonderful memories of your dad remind you of how many people he touched. _________________ 2012 R1200RT Midnight Blue

I'm not a real frequent visitor to this site, so just learned of Phil's passing this week while on a ride to Key West. My thoughts and prayers are with Phil's family and extended family. I never met Phil, but like so many others got to know him thru his postings here and a few pm's. He seemed like a very special man and would have enjoyed meeting him.

Another latecomer to the news, and my heart is saddened by the loss of a great man. I was happy to know him, however briefly, and we cooked together in joy and fellowship.
RIP Phil, and peace to his family. _________________ www.tidewaterforge.com |

I too have met and talked with Phil over the years.
I met both Phil and Harriet when I tried to get a KOG rally going back some years ago. We met up in Taos, NM. I'd dig for some pics....maybe I didn't have digital back then.
I brought my older brother along on his R1100 and we all went for a ride on that Saturday. Phil two up with Harriet and us solo. Well we were traveling on curvy roads at a good pace. My brother waved at me to slow and yelled 'slow down'. I yelled back...'No, that's why we came here' and then I had to cath up to Phil....he was far ahead.
And here's my only pic

I still can't believe Phil is gone. I used to do drive bys here on K11 and Phil would see my name on the current users list and call me.
I'm going to miss his long stories and deep laugh.

Another late comer here....I seem to remember Phil was doing battle with cancer, but was under the impression he had gotten it under control, that doesn't appear to have been the case. Certainly is great to see all the timely photo's others are sharing here. I hadn't seen him in years....I ran into him a time or two at Marty's, but otherwise chatted a few times here. He was a fantastic guy and will be missed by many.....RIP, Phil _________________ REDBRICK, '96RS (formerly owned), K11OG#5

After reading Allen's post, I just realized that I never posted this photo on this thread. I think it belongs here too.
Full credit goes to Rydor (Sean) for this, I just stole it...

Steve and Sean,
Is the red K bike in your picture the one that Phil had his deer crash with?

After Shogs completed her latest crazy 3,500+ mile coast-to-coast IBA ride across the northern US, last Monday she & I took a ride out to Neah Bay, WA (one of the "four corners" of the US) and Gwen scattered some of Phil's ashes into The Pacific Ocean:

Good evening John...
I just saw the picture of Phil that you posted, the one from Sean..
... really gives a guy time to pause and reflect on just how great our loss as K-bike riders and just plain friends of Phil have come to accept. Seldom do I look on a freshly served up bowl of steaming spaghetti with sauce without smiling and quietly remembering the countless hours in Phil's company and of our times together in VA.
Thanks for putting that pic up, and many many thanks to Gwen also for her thoughtful remembrance on the shores of the Pacific..
Best regards as always....ride safe wherever you are...// Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers
