Hey All,
Looking for a collective insight here. Found this top case on ebay for a 95 K1100LT. Wondering if it would a) fit my '94 k1100rs and b) what hardware / brackets are required to mount it to the bike?
http://bit.ly/IBwVCe
Does anyone have a photo of the stock top case that came with my bike?
Thanks in advance.

The top box that is made to fit the K-RS is 22L. Pretty small.
It has a backrest cushion but Cathy found it too far back for her to lean back against.
The LT top box fits on the larger, flat LT rack. _________________ John & Cathy

I don't think the LT top box will fit on the RS. (without some major modification of either rack or plate or box...)
That puny 22l in John's picture is now on my bike!

Thanks for the replies!!
The seller sent me pictures of the bike he's parting out, I think I can talk him out of the bars that the box sits on (for a fee) if they fit, but if the won't fit without major mods, then I'm gonna pass.
I have the side rails (see his is cracked on left side)/ boxes on my bike, so i don't need those. It looks like the top rail just mounts on the same bolts as the side rails (or at least in the same place) then the box sits on that.
Here are the photos he sent.
Any thoughts?
Chad
PS - He's parting out the whole bike, was in an accident. I have his contact info if you're interested. _________________ '94 K1100RS |

The one issue you are going to have trying to fit an LT top rack and box on an RS is the side grab handles behind the seat of the RS.
I don't think the top rack brackets of the LT will clear them.
Unless there is a way to remove them.
I don't have an RS so I don't know how they are mounted to the tail cowl. _________________ Ride safe.

It does look like the grab rails on the RS can be removed by a few bolts inside the tail cowl. Not sure what that would look like...empty holes and all.
I also have to ask, what is an LT top box going to look like on an RS?
Might a basic Givi or Coocase, with an adapter plate fit to fit the rear rack, look better?
Also, that crack in the side frame is going to take some major repair work to get back to strength, it's ABS plastic, not sure how you mend that? _________________ Steve

Really appreciate all the insight. The grab handles would be a problem, so im going to go wit a 3rd party one. There were a couple mentioned in the last post. Are those solid options? What have folks liked the best?
Rode the bike to work first time today, 31 degrees. God bless the heated vest! _________________ '94 K1100RS |

The LT rack will bolt right up to a K1100RS. All you need to do is get rid of the passenger grab handles and replace them with the same plugs at the top that the LT uses.
