Hi Guy's,
Thought I'd let you know that Darryl Applegate is in hospital after suffering a mild heart attack last weekend ' ' , I called in to see him yesterday at the Auckland Hospital and he is doing ok other than feeling very tired and hacked off ' ' which you would be being only 51 years old' ' they were going to do a scan on him later in the day and then an angeagramme on Monday when they will know more about his condition.
For those of you who don't know Darryl, he and I did a trip over to the US from NZ last year with our bikes, we had 7 weeks and 12,000kms touring around the Eastern States and one of the main highlights of the trip was the great time we had at the HM111 meeting where we got to meet a lot of you guy's and sample your great hospitality and friendship
I will keep you posted as to his progress, the prognosis looks good as it was a mild attack, but I think it was really due to the shock of riding the K1200S he's just bought as he as only been use to riding light wieght R twins
Cheers for now,
Paul. _________________ Paul & Gill

Paul,
Bad news about Darryl, but sounds like he will be back on his feet soon.
So what does that say about what will happen to me if I am looking at a K1300S, S1000RR or a Boxer Cup?

You will be fine John as you are a seasond K rider ' ' , Darryl is still young and foolish but he was muttering something about that he might have to get a trike now

What's next? 2 wheels-bike, three wheels-trike then 4 wheels-wheelchair.
Darryl just needs to get back on that K1200S and he will feel great! _________________ John & Cathy

I know exactly how he feels, I had a clot hit my heart back in Aug. put me down for about 3wks. The scary thing was I'm 43 6'1" and at the time of the clot 165lbs, the doc had no idea where the clot came from and said that while he was in removing the clot my arteries and veins were clean absolutely no build up of any kind. Just goes to show one never knows. _________________ 95 K1100LT Current ride

Hi Guy's,
I called in to see Darryl again today (Tues) and I passed on all your good wishes which definitely cheered him up as he had been earlier today for the angeagramme which showed that he is in need of a triple by-pass opperation they've not told him yet when they are going to do it, but it will be in the next few days, so I will know more towards the end of the week and will keep you posted on his progress.
Cheers from the both of us. _________________ Paul & Gill

Hi Guy's,
The latest up date on Darryl is that he as finally had the triple by-pass op today (Wed) ,
I spoke to his wife Helen this afternoon and she says it all went well and that he will be in intensive care for a couple of days, he had been waiting in hospital for almost 2 weeks, I have been calling in to see him every other day for a couple of hours, but he was getting really fed up with the situation and really wanted to get on with it, anyway the jobs done and he now as to take it easy and get back to fitness.
I will keep you posted on his progress and he says a big thanks for all your good wishes
Cheers for now, Paul. _________________ Paul & Gill

Good morning Paul...
Hey..as a friend, you're doing a GREAT job of supporting Daryl as well as keeping us all posted ! THANKS !!
Now... do you have, and can you give us, a postal address so that we ( his fellow riders ) can flood him with cards and best wishes ! Nothing to cheer a guy up better than a note from a friend !

Hi Ernie,
Thanks for your good wishes which I will pass on to him as soon as I get to see him which will probably be at the weekend.
I'm sure it would really cheer him up to get some mail from you guy's as we were only chatting the other day about our trip to the US last year and saying what a great time we had but I will first have a word with Helen and just check with her that they are ok with me put up there address on the Web site, as some people are not happy to do that, so I will get back to you on it.
