Rag Rally on a tank of gas
Left Whangarei at midday Friday on My 86 R80PD and rode to Auckland via Hwy 16 and Experience M/C Stayed at Pauls on the shore Friday night ,Bumped into some older Register members David and Alison Newman and Peter Standring at Pauls.
Left Auckland with Paul on his R75 at 8.30am to meet up with Rob on his R75 at Papakura and carried on to Ngaruawahia to meet Yan on his R60 and Neil R1150gs, from there on to Otorhanga for lunch this part was a bit of a slow ride as the guys on the older bikes were taking it steady.
Neil and I decided from Te Kuiti we would pick the pace up and leave the older guys to ride at there speed as this bit of road is a great motorcycle road at better speeds, stopped off in Taumarunui for food and alcohol supplies. From here it was an easy 60kms to the Rag.
Other members were already there and as the afternoon ran out more arrived all up around 30 members and most were on an older airhead BMW. 2 xR60, 2 x R75 2 x R80gs / PD 3 R100PD, 1x R80gs, 1 x cruiser, 2 x R1150rt 1 x r1150rs, R1100gs, .1x R1200gs, 1 x K1600GTL , 4 Jap bikes. and Clifford in his car
We all had a great feed and a good night talking.
All this on only a tank of gas each way with little to spare (Forgot to mention my tank holds 32lts of fuel) all up 1070km
If you haven’t been to a Rag Rally then you should.
