G'day,
I'm a long time lurker but joined yesterday, mainly because I have a question or two, and to be honest, need some information.
I've got a 93 K1100 LT, pulling a homebuilt sidecar, mainly long distance with quite a bit of dirt road work. I've been building a spare diff and need some information to finish it off. It broke a tailshaft on Thursday so while I'm replacing that, I want to install the replacement diff whilst I have the bike in pieces.
On the back of the ring gear there is quite a large ball bearing race.Could anyone tell me if this is an "off the shelf", standard size race, or is it a specific size that's available only from a BMW dealer. I've replaced all the other bearings from bearing supply places without the need to mortgage my house. This one feels ok but I thought it might be a good time to replace it.
Cheers
