Having read many BMW owners having problems with their bikes due to dodgy electrical connections, I an going to clean any connectors that i can get at, and lubricate them with an appropriate product. I am uk based. What product should i get and where do i get it? Thanks, Dodge. _________________ K1100 lt 97' |

I`m using Molykote 111. As an non-ekspensive alternative acid free vaseline also is used by many.

Hi Guys, I tried vaseline but with the heat the K makes under the tank where most of the wiring is, vaseline becomes very fluid at about 30 oC. I resorted to copaslip (copper grease) melting point about 1000 oC. After all, once your electrical contacts are clean all you want to do is to stop corrosion, stop water ingress. i suppose silicone would do the job but a bit messy. I used a very small dremel bit to clean my contacts up, they were very corroded and I had to replace some of them using through crimps. good luck. _________________ K1100rs 1992 model

Copaslip is slightly conductive, which can cause other strange behaviour in your electric system.
Molykote 111 (or any other silicone grease) is non conductive, Molykote is very thick, withstands heat good enough
for this use and is less messy to work with than Copaslip.

Members of an other forum praise a product for this use called DeoxIt to holy dimensions.

Seems like a good choice.
