http://ukfrancebikers.com/2011/06/18/france-completely-paralysed-by-almost-100000-bikers/
"France has today seen the largest motorcycle protest ever seen before with almost 100,000 bikers paralysing the whole nation, from north to south and west to east. A real slap in the face of Claude Guéant, French interior minister, who has been trying to push through a series of ridiculous proposals designed to treat bikers like cash cows when, let’s recognise it, bikers are willing to use a mode of transport that guarantees zero congestion, considerably reduces pollution and offers a more affordable solution to those facing financial difficulties. 100,000 bikers paralysing the whole nation, what a massive humiliation for the French government and its interior minister, Claude Guéant." _________________

Are you sure it was not 100,000,000?
Usually the figures are radically different depending on who counts the participants, personnaly I didn't see them under my windows. _________________ I am not a number, I am a free man.

It is a bit ironic but what else is there to do? The governments of many European countries now seem to be picking on the motorcycle.
It must have been a sight to see, France's own mobile motorcycle show! Good luck to them. _________________ Riding a 1995 Marakesh red K1100rs

i think that was the point wasn't it? the interior minister is trying to change the laws to prevent filtering and lane sharing, both practices that help reduce congestion when using a motorcycle. so by treating each bike like a car they are demonstrating the benefits of the current laws/regulations.
of course it sucks for everyone to be congested like that. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

Museing on words: To me, "tard" means slow or late.
Wondering where my 'puter spellcheck came up with motard as a corrective suggestion when I used in reference to the electrical components known as motronic in an e-mail.
Recently saw the initiation of a public service ad campaign of a political corrective nature advocating the discontinuation of the term "retard" when referring to a developmentally challenged individual.
At K11OG we are fortunate enough to have our own "Libtard", bless his heart.
Now I become aware of perhaps 100,000 motards in France, all on the streets at once. Of course there were traffic jams.
Sorry, I'll go to my room in the dungeon now. |

Doesn't seem likely given that the current population of France is something on the order of 63,000,000. _________________ Lee
