| After many years with BMW's I seem to have come full circle and circumstances dictate I am now the proud owner of a 1997 K1100rs, I truly forgot how brilliant these machines were, I also forgot some of their annoying bits like, Misty clocks!!! How annoying. Anyway I'm going to enjoy. Here's a pic of Big Red. www.23hq.com/k12pfc |

Welcome Phil,
You must be the chap from Pompey, who was buying a bike on Thursday ?
That I suggested may be OTT.
As for steamy clocks, I fitted a dessicant pack ( the ones that come packed with expensive Hi tech kit, that most people throw away) 3 years ago, never been steamy since.
Do a search for "UK & ROI members" or summat like, & post there too please. _________________ Regards Tim,

Hi Tim, yes thats me, and yes it was above book price but I checked the things you said and I decided that although a a bit OTT was worth it, it really is in great condition, I bought the bike from Telford, Ironbridge, Bloody cold ride home as I forgot my necktube!!! It was still frosty up there when I left there for my 200 mile ride home!
I remember trying various things to cure the misty clocks when I had my K100's years ago, never much success, so you suggest taking clocks off and putting this pack inside is that right? is there room inside?
Anyway thanks for the welcome. |

WELCOME Phil,
Looks like you are off to a good start here at the forum.
You even supplied the somewhat "required" bike pictures.
Here's a pic of Big Red.
Fixed!

That's exactly what mine looks like, except ride it on muddy roads for a few months...you get the idea
Nice wheels mate, still reckon they're one of the better looking bikes of all time, just before BMW went all angular and spacey. _________________ K1100RS '97

Hope your bike didn't get too close to that chromehead. Who knows what infection an R1200C gives off

And well achieved, in my modest opinion. BMW didn't continue producing these bikes, but I like them a lot. Full of precious details, overall good looks and, to finish with, german quality. This was probably my favorite colour scheme:
