Hi, I Recently noticed my high beams don't work!
Checking bulbs from behind, both are lit. Can someone explain what may be going on to me? High beam switch gets no lights at all- regular seems to get both sides on, but not high.. 94 k1100rs
Thanks!
Jeff

A clearer explanation of your situation would be helpful.

Sorry, maybe I am confused...
Regular light works, switching on high beams brings zero light - nothing - the high beam indicator looks to be on, dimly.

Umm, but there's only one bulb in the headlight in a K1100rs. I am confused what you mean, there are no left and right ones.

Mine definitely has two. The outer lens is a big rectangular shape ..maybe the bike is the k1100rsa black and silver...saw one on the list today.

Hi Jeff - K 11 bikes only have one headlight. There is no left or right. If you can post a pic, maybe we can help you figure out what you've got there.

Yes, that's right -- I was looking at it in the dark with a tiny flashlight and it seemed like there was one on each side..on bulb, no highbeam. replace the bulb? are they at car stores? what is the spec or model or code??

They are a bog standard H4 hi/lo bulb, available at any car parts place. You need to be a contortionist to replace it though, I have a lot of trouble getting to it!! The neighbours are still shocked from the swearing.....and it was a year ago.

Mind you it's still marginally easier than replacing the air filter, what a cluster f%^k of a design that is.....

If the high beam indicator lamp in the instrument cluster isn't coming on then it is likely that the contacts in your switch are worn out. You''ll need to replace the switch. See the link below for where to find a good used switch. Wink

You might want to consider adding headlight relays to minimize the chances of this happening again.
