Drove to work today and came out to go home and the switch wouldn't turn to unlock / run position. I can turn it counter-clockwise to the parking light position and back but that is it???

No previous issues and bike has only 22K

I gather that the steering is also locked at this key position.
About all you can do is to keep carefully working the key and handlebars together. I don't really want to recommend penetrating fluid but if it's already broke you can't hurt in any worse by trying some.
If the key mech is truly hosed about your only other option is to drill the retaining security screws and remove the key lock assy.
You can search the site, I think there has been a writeup on it, but I can't say for absolute certain how it comes out.

Towed to local dealership. Service writer acted like this was really rare but said they'd dig into it asap. In the mean time, a tech poured some tri-flow into the cylinder in the morning. Later the same day, the SW tried the key...it worked!

Good to know you got it sorted - sorry you had to get a tow.

Lubing the switch is one of the things on my "every spring" list.
