Where did I read on this website where I can remove the bottom of the front strut and not take the whole thing off?

The fork lowers can be removed without unclamping the upper fork tubes.

Bike on centerstand.

Jack under the front of the engine.

Remove the brake calipers, front wheel, fork brace and fender.

Remove the drain screws and drain the fork oil.

Hex wrench (5 or 6 mm) up into the fork leg, loosen and remove a bolt in each leg.

Pull each fork lower down and off the fork tube.

Done.

I thought that's how it came off. I am at the bolt on the bottom as of now. Got some brake issues also. One set of brakes worn more than the other. So fix, fix, fix I go. Also installing the Fuzeblock. I got a rat's nest under the tank and in the relay box.

As you put everything back together be extra careful when you install the drain screws- VERY easy to strip the threads

Doing fork seals and/or gaiters?

Fork seals and fluid. I suspect the struts have something to do with a handling problem AND I haven't looked at them in a long time so I'm going to do some major maintenace. Pull my Fox shock and over haul it and miscellaneous other items.
