I believe that you can run a K1100LT on radial tyres now instead of bias or cross-ply. Any thoughts on the change, good or bad?
What sizes would you say should be fitted and what tyre pressure would you suggest.

I have about 2000 miles left on the present set of Michelin cross-plies fitted now, so it is possibly the time consider any change. I am thinking about Metzeller or Continental., Although the Michelin are very good and the bike handles well, they have given shockingly low miles.
With my previous K1100 running on Metzeller I managed over 9k on the rear and 11k on the front. If I include the remaining estimated 2k miles, I will only have managed a total of 5K miles since last August.

Here's why:

That sounds good with no apparent problems - except the mention of the speedometer becoming inaccurate could be a problem in UK.

The country, UK, end to end is littered with both static and mobile speed cameras. Not to mention roving police traffic cars!

Any excess speed above 10% more than limit depending on what the speed is, will almost certainly result in a fine of at least £100 and with that comes an additional penalty, up go the annual premiums! 4 transgressions over a small period of time and can loose your licence for 6 months or more. It is quite rigorously enforced especially in towns.

Apart from that it is also an offence to use any motor vehicle KNOWING the speedometer is inaccurate.

Possibly the only way around it to stay legal is, on my LT the wheel diameter is 17" but with a K1100RS the diameter is 18",which will bring the difference closer together.

I will have to think about it.

I don't know if you've ever checked your speedometer vs a GPS but at least here in the US they run about 10% fast from the factory. So, running stock sized tires it reads 70 MPH when your actual speed in 63-64.

You can calibrate your speedometer to make it more accurate:

In all my bikes since I first got a Gps about 12 years ago the speedometer and the Gps have always differed with the Gps with the speedometer always reading around 2-3 miles faster than the GPS.

Fiddling with electronics is a nightmare for me. To be blunt, I have no idea what I am doing so I leave well alone. If it moves mechanically I can usually fix it with electrics I struggle.

I actually think my speedometer is pretty well spot on. One other speed measuring device that are placed in areas where a 30 or lower mph limit is in force the judge the speed of an approaching vehicle and many times I have seen it display "30" and that usually corresponds with the needle on the speedometer.
