Any gotchas or tips on installing a Corbin seat on a K1100LT? _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Not as long as it's the right seat. I had a stock and a Corbin on my LT. They both fit great, be careful about loosing the clip that goes into the pivot pins. There is a jointed arm that holds the seat open for you to get to the battery etc. On my LT I had to remove the right side battery cover to get the pins out cleanly. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

If your bike has newer seat hinges then you'll need to replace them with the old style ones to work with a Corbin seat pan.
If the seat doesn't align properly then loosen everything, get things lined up and then retighten. Everything includes the hinges on the bottom of the seat as well as the two bolts that hold down the hinge bar.

While you're at it you can make the rear seat hinge easier to deal with:

Thanks. I got the hinge with the rubber to fit correctly, but the clevis pin is a great idea. I will go get one today. And of course, don't tighten anything until it all fits is something I learned fixing helicopters in the Marines. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Re : replacement saddles....
Hi guys... it’s a personal choice I know, but a Saddle is something special for every rider. On my K1100,,, I had swapped out the oem saddle, ( really uncomfortable) for a Corbin and rode with the Corbin for two years. It was like sitting on a 2x4. it looked great however and was certainly very well made, but my male anatomy just couldn’t take it any longer, especially on long trips of 1000 miles or more. I switched to a design that provides great gel padding and a center trough for relief, custom made by Saddlemen Co. in Compton Calf. I have now been using this saddle for two seasons and could not be happier. At the end of a days ride, I no longer feel my anatomy crushed and voice shifted to higher registers...it’s a great choice for me, ( and those who may be slightly over endowed )
Good luck with whatever Saddle you choose..../ Ernie in NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

I fitted on onto my 1st K1100lt that I owned around 2005/6. It went on without any fitting problems. In fact it was a straight swap over with no adjustment needed to the pins or fitting to the top of the rear support.
It was superb - wish I still had the bike now! _________________ 1997 K1100LT

How did your installation go? Is the backrest specifically for the back seat or you can move it to the front seat too? |
