My new bike has 75 k miles and still the original showa shock.
I like the bike but the ride is harsh, and gives me back pain..
I play with the compression settings, very little diference between soft-hard
I think that the shock is shot...
Any suggestions for a new shock? or is a good (and cheap) alternative to rebuild the showa.. _________________ dont think further....just ride

+1 on the Realm.
I've had one since they were 1st released.
You can always keep your eye open for an Ohlins, they pop up occasionally for sale. _________________ Ride safe.

Do you know if they have one size fits all spring...or i can choose rate?
I am fairly light and ride solo most of the time _________________ dont think further....just ride

I think that's why they ask about your riding style and general weight when riding so they can match the spring as close as possible.
Something makes me think that they have only 2 spring rates, light and heavy, but I can't say for certain so don't quote me on that.
One thing is for certain, you have a weight limit for the bike, so there is most likely only so much you can do with spring rates.
You can always email Realm and ask them. _________________ Ride safe.

Definitely talk to them about spring rate before ordering. Their default is 2-up fully loaded. I bought one like that and it was WAY too stiff. Arranged with them to get a spring for my weight one-up, lightly loaded and life was much better after that. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

And if you find RAM shock too much for your budget, YSS do a cheaper alternative.
Probably not as good, but I found it fine, and much better than the original. It is also adjustable for preload and rebound damping. _________________ '08 K1200GT

Nothing wrong with Hagon. Not sure if they're better/worse/same as the RAM.
With RAM you can pick the spring color I think. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I have a HyperPro shock on my '96 RS, and on my '05 Boxer Cup...they work great.
They asked me a bunch of questions and built them to fit me. _________________ '20 R1250RS - The RS

finally a bought a ram shock..
I weight 75 kg and set the spring preload about halfway. Now the bike with me on has about 35mm rear sag, the ride is firmer, and over bumps more comfy..
