I have a question about the forks on my 94 LT. They feel like they are very susceptible to twist. Not sure if that's the right word but I'll do my best to describe it: when I wiggle the handle bars, in motion or stopped, the forks seem to want to twist around each other & this force briefly reverberates through the forks & back to the handle bar, as if there is a problem with the fork brace (which I haven't confirmed yet, actually) Its very disconcerting & ive never had a bike feel this way before. It's most noticeable at parking lot speed but definitely there at higher speeds as well. It never turns into head shake, thankfully. I compressed the rubber handle bar mounts & they feel quite solid now so,it's not that & the steering head bearings are smooth as butter & I tightened them so there's the slightest amount not of drag but that didn't help. The front tire is a Metzeler Lasertec in good shape inflated to 40psi. I'm going to pull the fender bits off & see if something's wrong with the fork brace but other than that, any ideas of what else to look at?

Is it your forks, or possibly the handlebar mounts?
Have a look at this:

This one has a nice diagram:

Thank you for the links. I compressed the bar mounts already, what I'm feeling is definitely from the forks. Front wheel bearings are good too, btw.

How many miles on that 94? Have the forks been rebuilt? New bushings installed?

Hey Jim, thanks for the reply. I'll look at the service records & see if it's been done. If not, looks like l'll be adding a fork rebuild to my to do list.
