Today I started the much needed service of the Lt., it has been stood for 3 years, warmed engine, drainded oil, removed oil filter plate to remove filter
Shocked Mad Crying or Very sad

It will NOT move, I have the correct tool, tried it with sandpaper of inside, nothing...
Hammered a screwdriver in and nothing, removed oil pan still will not move, hammered huge screwdriver in, it just gouged through the filter, eventually I got it to move, over an hour Exclamation
Got 2 spark plugs out, 2 stuck (of course I will win) they are in a right state...
Just to confirm, I have the right tools and know how to use them Very Happy

Been there, someone makes a cast aluminum filter cap that fits much better. I use Bosch 3330 filters and they seem to have a thicker can and perform well.

Skip the K&N 163, I had the nut break off of one, then you get a sloth round filter, nd get to do the screwdriver trick...

looking at the threads of your plug on the right, it appears that the threads look a bit rounded. Did it come out easy?

Some have taken the oil filter wrench and drilled 2-3 self tapping sheet metal screws thru the wrench into the filter for a positive grip... just be ready for oil to drain out of the filter

I have an excellent oil filter wrench (machined aluminum) from the Marc Parnes company- not cheap but beats a screwdriver and cursing 😳

They do look rounded, all four had been over tightened, the four new ones are not, once I had cracked them they came out easily, unlike trying to get the caps off Shocked
Self tappers were my next port of call if the BIG screwdriver did not work.

Onto today's fight, we now have new plugs, oil filter, seals and washer, oh and sump pan is back on + first fresh oil in at least 3 years.
Turned my attention to the air filter Evil or Very Mad come back to that tomorrow after learning how on YouTube
Front brakes, everything heavily rusted, I win as everything is apart with NO damage (apart from one snapped bolt, sorted with molegrips.
Also painted part of a pannier with truck bed paint, it has come out pretty good.

Very Happy
