1987 K75C i rescued a few months ago...
Found 9 areas that had bubbling paint. After removing the paint and corrosion my dental pick just pooked through.

I sanded the exterior areas, then bead blasted the entire inside of the tank, washed out and prepped the areas to be sealed.

I've been using Permatex gas tank sealer with good success.

This is the result of sitting outside for a year. The injection system was also full of water. Ive never seen a tank this bad. Well see how it holds up!

Good job!

Guess it'll be spring before I'll get to ride either of my K bikes. They're both still in the shop. Gwen's shop whore doesn't hold the record anymore...

Hope you can seal it. Use prices are going nuts.

Good luck with the restoration.

Try a radiator shop - someone a while back (hah!) reported sanding back to metal and then braising with lead quite successful.

Try this http://www.durafix.com/ or this https://www.alumiweld.com/awpricing.html

They're both the same material.

I used some a while back, not on a tank but it worked pretty well.

i used PermiTex to seal the tank.

Ive had good luck with it in the past.. Well see how it holds up over time..

RAL, good to hear from you. Ive seen this stuf in the past..Id like to try the metal based repair also.. My main concern is heating the tank and damaging the Paint. Other than that.. what a great idea! will get some to try on future projects...

TED, good to see you(r) still lurking!!

All the holes are sealed and the motor is back running!!

more updates soon!
