Hello all, I need to run power to some acces. lights and I did have it unswitched, but that led to battery issues, LOL. So I am looking for the easiest way pick up switched power. Thanks.

Are you thinking around the handle bar area? Our under the tank?

If you have heated grips and don't use them, there would be a switched source.

I use my heated grips a lot here in PA. I can go under the tank. Is there an empty slot on the fuse box?

Well for accessory lighting, Fuse #2 is switched for the parking light circuit. It will be powered when the ign switch is in the 'on' position or the 'park' position.

At the fuse Grey is the switched power lead from the ign switch, and then the Grey/White would be the "protected" load side........ it goes the the inst cluster and the little park light above the headlight.

Be careful when picking the switched circuit you intend to use. Calculate the maximum load (in amperes) that you expect to draw with your accessories. Add this to the designed load for the circuit you pick. The total should be less than the manufacturer designed fuse size. Moreover, the purpose of the fuse is to protect the wiring, not the load, so raising the fuse rating to accommodate higher loads is a no-no. In that case, equip your bike with an auxiliary switched fuse block dedicated to your aftermarket use.

For aux lights you will want to run the power through a relay.

Use the green/brown wire from the white nylon factory alarm connector in the relay box to turn the relay on.

I have in the past piggy backed into the head light circuit. That is switched and of course it is already protected with a solenoid.

The headlight circuit is not fused and a bad place to tap into unless it is used as a low amp relay trigger.

That's what I used as a trigger for the relay to an Eastern Beaver fuse panel.
